Traveling Tips for Japan

This is our free guide to traveling to Japan, and it is open to all who are thinking about or already have plans to Go.

Basic Tips - When traveling around Japan for the first time we recommend using Google Maps to lead the way but sometimes Google Maps might not be as reliable, For example in Shinjuku station which is one of the busiest train stations in all of Japan but also one of the biggest as it's not uncommon to get lost in Shinjuku Station.

Basic Japanese to help you get by!

Sumimasen: This translates to "Excuse me," which is helpful when asking people for help when you need it. The pronunciation for this is "soo-mee-maa-sen.

Ikura Desu Ka?: This translates to "How much?" which is helpful when prices are not displayed on certain items or as a way to double-check a price. The pronunciation for this is "Ee-Ku-Ra, Deh-Su-ka"

___ Wa Doko Desu Ka?: This translates to "Where is ___?" which is helpful for asking directions and will prove useful because some of the train stations can get confusing at times. The pronunciation is "Wa-Doh-ko-Deh-Su-Ka"

Common places to ask for directions for "Eki"(Eh-Kee ->Train Station),

"Konbini"(Ko-n-be-ni -> Convenience store), "Basutei"(Bah-Su-Teh -> Bus Stop)
